I love this idea, Sarah! It is a perfect way to document the growth within our children’s development throughout the school year. Ever changing, ever growing!

As the seed grows throughout the year, we can watch how it changes and reflect on how we are changing and growing.

This is a wonderful idea! I especially like how you emphasize the inclusion of characters that the child can relate to in the story. Personal relevance definitely brings more life to a story. Working towards the conquering of a challenge is another perfect way to set the theme of the school year – setting and meeting a goal, yet discovering the “keys” along the way is an important part of the personal process. Thank you for sharing the idea of an archetypal story. What a great way to start out a new school year!

I end the story by looking upon some type of challenge that they will conquer such as a mountain, a wide valley or river. They usually find the “key” to this challenge upon their new book. It could be an acorn, crystal or a seed.
